Daily Deviation

Given 2009-12-04
When I saw You Stole My Heart by ~XactoInTheBox, the super-saturated colours and distorted scale instantly brought to mind graphic novel illustration. At the centre of the rough-and-ready pulp horror style is a core of awesome effects work which can be seen in more detail HERE. ( Featured by TanyaSimoneSimpson )
:iconrikutsumi:
It's wonderful as far as far as coloring and special effects go. The idea behind it, as stated in the daily deviation is very true. It's very good in that nature and very original. I also love the close up of your hand, it brings the idea out regardless of the fact that you would have said anything in the description and it take quite a bit of talent to do that. My only suggestion it that you might want to make the blood a bit darker seeing as it's such a big wound the blood would be thicker and darker. Also it looks as if you might have photo shopped on the hand print on the chest. Next time if you did do that, you might want to just put the hand print on for real. If you didn't... well my bad ^^u

Over all it was a wonderful picture and it really caught my eye. It'll definitely be going into my fav's ^^

I think that this is a fantastic picture. Despite the gore element in the image, it's not horrific enough to remove what, to me, reflects a rather romantic idea. I think that the blood looks very realistic, and the use of effects makes it all the more amazing. All in all, I really like the way it came out! Some finer points to mention, would be the way the handprint almost fades towards the finger tips, in my opinion that seems like it would be very real. The excess blood on the hand adds to it as well, considering the depth of the wound, however, I think would be alot more blood, but for the art aspect, it's just fine the way it is. It's a very interesting style, great job.

... Why such a young boy?

Anyway, a both horrible and wonderful piece. The blood could have been, perhaps, a tad darker.

The emotion is very intense. The outstretched hand can be either "Please, give it back" or "Can I have yours in return?" Both of which compliments the piece, although the former somehow does it better...

Cuz a young boy is me, and no models have I D:
And I agree, the blood definitely could have been darker :\ At the time of shooting I really didn't expect to do much with the picture than show my friends, but then I actually edited it like this :P

Ah, that makes excellent sense, then.... How did you manage to take a picture of yourself, though?

Those things seems to happen often. What do you know, you ended up with a great pic. Luck's allowed in this business.

I put a mirror behind the camera so I could see the viewfinder screen, then I focused it to the distance I would stand away from the camera and put it on a self timer :] haha

Not much at first, it was one of those times when I didn't notice it hurt until I looked at the actual wound, THEN it started to hurt D:

This is actually pretty creepy. My friend sent this link to me because it's practically what happened to one of my OC characters.

It's so sad. I love how it looks, but the impact is great...
